Fennor / GUIDES / IMPORT CONTACTS

How to import contacts into Fennor from CSV

Bring your people with you. Leave the guesswork behind.

Prepare your CSV

Export contacts from your existing tool as a UTF-8 CSV. Keep a header row with readable column names. Fennor can import name, company, email, phone, website, address, status and tags. A contact name is required.

Keep each CSV to 200 contacts and no more than 1 MB. Split a larger contact book into batches. Keep your original export as a backup before editing it.

Match the columns

In Contacts, choose Import and select the CSV. Fennor suggests matches for familiar headers. Check each dropdown, especially the required name column. Choose Do not import for columns you don’t want to use.

Review the preview

The preview shows the first five rows, while validation checks the complete batch. Fix invalid names, email addresses, website URLs or relationship values in the source file and upload it again. Accepted relationship values are Lead, Customer, Partner and Inactive; a blank status becomes Lead.

Decide how to handle duplicates

The duplicate option checks email addresses against contacts already in your workspace and against earlier rows in the same CSV. With skipping enabled, matching emails aren’t imported again. This check cannot identify every duplicate, especially contacts with missing or different email addresses.

Import and check the result

The import button shows how many valid contacts are ready. After importing, Fennor reports the number actually created. The new contacts appear in your contact book. If the request fails, keep the dialog open and retry the same batch; stable row identities prevent that batch being added twice.

What happens to fields that aren’t mapped?

Unmapped CSV columns are not imported. Custom-field values and activity history are not part of this basic CSV importer. Add custom details on the contact record or contact support before planning a larger migration.
